Joining the USA Series from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, an experimental single-cask rye whiskey from Distillery 291, which is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. This one is made using 100% German rye, and the mash is traditionally soured in open-air fermenters before distillation. Matured in heavily charred American white oak, this three-year-old whiskey was then finished with toasted aspen staves from a friend's nearby land.
Batch 3 is a release of 295 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Softly sweet and spiced with notes of gingerbread and clove supporting peppery rye. Delicately herbaceous and floral.
Palate It's packed with notes of peppercorn and capsicum spice, while granola and dried berries are followed by dustings of cocoa and more herbal notes beneath.
Finish Dark chocolate fondant and allspice linger on the finish.
