Blended 40 Year Old Whisky (Defilement)
Technicalities are important to the Defilement range. Take this 40 year old blended whisky right here, for example. If you let whisky from a certain famous origin mature in a cask for many, many years, its ABV will eventually reduce down below 40%, meaning it's technically no longer a whisky from that certain famous origin, it is a "spirit drink". However, if you blend this spirit drink with other whiskies of that certain famous origin at a higher strength and bring it back over the 40% ABV threshold, it's technically a whisky again, albeit NOT of said certain famous origin. Just a blended whisky. That's what's happened with this fantastic 40 year old blended whisky. Who knew technicalities could taste so fantastic?!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Cooked apples and pears with a drizzle of caramel, followed by a touch of citrus oils bringing some lightness to the rich, complex nose.
Palate
Salted butter spread on crusty bread still warm from the oven, a slow build of fragrant smoke and earthy vanilla, with walnut and pecan introducing a touch of oiliness.
Finish
Decadent coffee and freshly ground spices, along with a hint of blackberry.
Overall
A great blended whisky which shows off its age very well indeed.
