Unveiled in late 2015, this is a limited edition expression from the excellent Deanston distillery in the Highland region, matured for 20 years in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks and bottled at cask strength. Loads of chewy raisin and dark-chocolate-coated peanuts notes here - excellent stuff as ever from Deanston.
Sultana, raisin, rum cake dotted with cherries and a hint of festive spices.
Chocolate peanuts, Mocha, candied ginger, sugared orange peels. Raisins continue to develop on the mid-palate.
Warming and long.
A supremely satisfying Deanston - ought to be a great Christmas Even dram, but would be more than welcome on any chilly evening throughout the year.

Had this at a Scottish Games event tasting. I have not been a Scotch Whisky fan in the past, but this was delicious.
Took a bit of getting use to due to the massive sherry hit on the nose and the cask strength alcohol, but once water is added it settles down and is a very enjoyable sherry bomb. Cost me a lot of money so I'll have to make it last.
