Description

22 year old single malt from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, independently bottled for the Darkness! range. In keeping with the rest of the Darkness! release, this expression has been finishined in a tiny, specially coopered, 50-litre sherry cask (moscatel sherry this time!), resulting in amped-up sherried deliciousness. Only 100 bottles were produced.

Nose

Full of dried fruit and spice notes, with wafts of peat smoke, suggestions of sweet walnut and a slight mulchiness. An aroma of sticky toffee pudding lingers throughout.

Palate

Dense bramble fruit, syrupy plums and raw, sweet spices with herbaceous, almost tea leaf-like notes lead, before oaky tannins and a little dried barley rise.

Finish

A long, rich finish. Bonfire embers give a toastiness to the palate flavours.

Overall

An intriguing dram that carries all the hallmarks of a Moscatel cask finish.
