Nose: A beautifully composed aroma of grassy malt, thick red wine notes and chocolate sauce, accompanied by warm baking spices, wholemeal bread, oily walnuts and wood polish.
Palate: Dry, thick and beautifully balanced juicy dates and stewed plums rise over rare steak meat and damp oak, with flickers of light spices underneath.
Finish: Maintains its dryness with a modestly short finish and lingering red wine tannins.
Overall: An understated dram full of sumptuous red wine flavours and plenty else to complement them.
