The Darkness! independent bottling range sees oodles of top-notch whiskies receive a finishing period in specially coopered, 50-litre sherry casks - these smaller casks offer a greater surface area to volume ratio than your run-of-the-mill hogshead or what-have-you, meaning more cask influence. This release from the range is a 27 year old Bladnoch single malt, finished in a tiny Pedro Ximénez cask and bottled with an equally tiny outturn of just 100 bottles.

Nose
Aromas of thick stewed fruits, brandy butter and digestive biscuits come through among wood polish, rich barley, clove and chocolate sauce.
Palate
With syrupy dark fruit, malt wine and toffee apples, there’s a light helping of Campino and chocolate covered raisins. Sherried spices and toasted oak add depth.
Finish
Deep and yet delicate; a touch of dried cherries and oily walnuts are present.
Overall
A lip-lickingly delicious dram, surging with flavour, character and that charming sherry darkness.
