Dailuaine 11 Year Old 2015 - Apera Hogshead (Blind Summit Whisky)
This cracker from Dailuaine was distilled in 2015 and matured for the next 11 years, including a finish in an Australian apera cask (the Aussie equivalent of sherry), bringing notes of roasted nuts and ripe orchard fruits to the waxy malt at its heart. A total of 200 cask strength bottles join the independent collection from Blind Summit Whisky.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
Roasted almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts alongside bitter orange zest and dried apricot.
Palate
Warming and well-textured. Rich toffee and caramel, with more red apples and more roasted nut character. The fruit carries well but the texture is what strikes you.
Finish
Long and fleshy, with red grape skin, red apple and a lingering nuttiness.
