Followers of Daftmill's journey and all the fun details will be familiar with their use of Optic barley for many releases. Well, we can tell you that summer 2010 was the last time this variety was used by the family in their distilling, so if you love to geek out over raw materials you likely don't want to miss out on this one.
The casks used here, meanwhile, are 25 first fill ex-bourbon barrels from Kentucky distillery Clermont Springs. Distilled in July 2010, and disgorged in 2021, 6,250 sought-after and tasty bottles were produced in total.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Wonderfully fruity aromas of tinned peaches in syrup, vanilla custard eclairs and sherbet lemons with a touch of hazelnut spread developing after a bit of time breathing in the glass.
Invigorating and vibrant bringing notes of sweet brioche, butter popcorn, lemon zest and an almost hop-like fruitiness before developing some fuller notes of dried apricot.
The gentle finish shows a touch more vanilla and some lingering spice.
