Craigellachie shows off its distinct, unapologetic style in fashion with this impressive 17-year-old single malt. Initially matured in a host of bourbon and sherry casks, married, then divided equally between fresh, first-fill bourbon and sherry casks to finish, it boasts a robust, muscular profile with tropical hints of pineapple and meaty malt.
*UK (excluding Channel Islands) and retail only. Offer from 28 11 2025, while stock lasts.
Apple crumble, melon and raisins. Honey'd barley, a little hint of smoke and vanilla ice-cream.
It opens very sweet with pineapple and custard creams, though the meatiness soon shines through. More smoke on the palate than the nose, with a touch of clove and oak.
Waxy and smoky on the finish.

Tasting party with the boys. Aroma...very mild, light on aroma, light colour, blue sky. Taste...spice on the tongue but light on the finish, sweet, maybe some chocolate under tones. The taste....wheat, sea salt. One of the tasters indicated there is not much differentiation from the 13 yr old. Is it the best we've had....no...but it is smooth. This is a status quo type whiskey.
This is an all round good dram and you won't go wrong investing in a bottle of this!! Recommended!!
Bought a bottle a while ago and went through it in no time. When I'm in the mood for something lighter this one is hard to beat.Just got another... light honey and vanilla with a bit of smoke....fantastic!
A brilliant whisky! So much character! I highly recommend this one!
Don't get me wrong, it's really really satisfying whisky but I'm sitting here with two tasting glasses, one for the 13 the other for the 17. I've been drinking the 13 for a while and adore the feel, the balance, the syrupy finish and long, lingering chocolate caramel. There's nothing wrong with the 17, it is also wonderfully meaty, full bodied, with luscious oak, vanilla, chocky, spice and dried fruit. It's just that every time I go back to the 13, I think "damn that's good". The 17 is almost twice the price. I'll keep it in the cabinet and sup it from time to time but I'll go on buying the 13. In fact I may lay in some stock in case it all goes.
