Master of Malt
Scotland
A cracker from Craigellachie, distilled in 2008 and matured for ten years before joining our very own collection of exclusive Master of Malt releases! The Speyside-based distillery is one of just a few remaining to use a worm tub condenser, resulting in a lusciously oily mouthfeel, and characteristically meaty, ripe fruit notes. A release of 398 bottles.

Heaps to explore here, with layers of vanilla caramel, pineapple fritters, walnut oil, and fresh vanilla pod. Nutty malt develops beneath, with notes of cardamom in tow.
Generous helpings of charred tropical fruit, caramelised pineapple, and banana chips with an oily minerality and subtle notes of spiced beer sticks.
Waxed peels, mixed spices, and more overripe fruit, with a pinch of dried chilli to finish.
Interesting. Lots of toffee and vanilla nose. Caramel and vanilla and maybe a hint of smoke on the palate, pepper finish. A comforting winter dram.
An extrememly good value single cask bottling from the MoM guys. Zero faff labelling, no silly packaging (though it could even drop the dilly paper ribbon on the cap), just a label, a bottle, a cork and some whisky. Just as nature intended. The whisky itself is a typical example of a Craigellachie, meaty and muscular, tropical fruits and sticky lightly smoked pineapple, some bbq notes and a whiff of sulphur. It is a stoncker for the money. It didn't last long - had to buy another. Cheers
Complex tastes going on with a nice finish. I do like that silky oilyness this one has , good value for money I would say . Doesn't need any water at all .
