Cotswolds Founder's

The Cotswolds Founder's Choice spent its time maturing in American oak red wine casks that were shaved, toasted and re-charred, following a process that was created by Dr. Jim Swan. Following maturation, this tasty treat gets bottled up at cask strength, letting all those malty, fruity, toasty flavours sing.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Mango, peach and pear, with a slow build of mocha and Matchmakers (the minty chocolate sticks).

Palate Mocha sticks around, joined by cinnamon, fiery ginger, foam strawberry sweeties and marmalade.

Finish Bready on the finish, plus some of those bright mango notes return.

very impressive, huge flavours, big punch!
I was very impressed with this whiskey. I'd chosen to explore the English and Welsh whiskies and break from the southern Islay distilleries that i usually source from. From the first (advisably small) sip I knew I had found a winner. Huge initial flavours came through the not inconsiderable punch of the spirit and kept coming. The Peated Cask has gone to the top of my Christmas list with another bottle of this (I'm sure it would have gone by then) in close second.

March on English whiskey!
Nose: British scones and jam...lovely.

Palate: Jammy mouthfeel that descends into its oak, while not forgetting the imperial  breakfast it descends from. For its age...this is good. Really really good.

After: The lingering finish is incredible. Remember how damned young this is. There is a haunt of a sour note, but so distracted are you by the age you don't care. Great.
