Compass Box Peat Monster Arcana
From the fantastic Compass Box team comes a limited edition bottling of their Peat Monster blended Malt, which explores the impact French oak can have on peaty whisky. Within the recipe for this expression is a portion of a cask strength version of Peat Monster, which was allowed two years in French oak casks that had previously matured some of Compass Box's Highland malt blend, which mellowed the smokiness of the whisky and introduced some creamy, chocolatey and spicy notes.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Nectarine, peach and caramel, alongside waves of ocean air and tarry ropes.
Palate
Fragrant ginger and cinnamon, continued coastal peat, a dollop of extra-thick double cream and some biscuity malt.
Finish
Ash, pear skin, milk chocolate and another hint of cinnamon.
