Compass Box Flaming 2018 Bottling Note

The 2018 bottling of Flaming Heart blended malt from Compass Box is a powerful expression, filled to the brim with smoke and deliciousness. Those of you with very well-trained noses will catch notes of Caol Ila, Clynelish and Deanston within this one, with a few more unnamed whiskies hiding within. 15,050 bottles were produced.

Finish: Oatcakes, salted butter, orange and clove.

Compass Box Flaming Heart (2018 Edition) Reviews

It's no 15th Anniversary Edition, but its still brilliant!

Nose: Grasping peat.

Palate: Full mouthfeel dives into incredible sweet spiced peat.

After: The balance drives forward, sherry giving it measure. Stunning.

enjoyable, but not quite there

This is my least favourite CB in the £90+ CB club. No name, Juveniles, Phenomenology, The Lost Blend, and a few other, all are much more interesting and tastier.

Must try before you die

Fantastic blended malt.

Definitely worth trying a dram, but can’t say it’s worth the price point anymore

I really looked forward to this release, unfortunately it ended up to be disappointing. This is not to say it is a bad dram by any means, but closer to the 86 score range than the 91-93 range of the 2012 or 2015 releases. While I enjoy sherry cask finish, it does change the flaming heart flavor profile and the Caol Ila and Clynelish are definitely younger stock than previously, at a higher price :( overall experience three stars
