Charcoal & Cornmeal 10yo

Feast your eyes on Charcoal & Cornmeal & Rickhouses & a Decade, a 10 year old bourbon whiskey! People who sit at the centre of the Venn diagram of 'bourbon boffins' and 'ampersand aficionados' ought to be rather excited about this expression. Honestly, you don't even have to like ampersands, or any punctuation really – but if you love brilliant bourbon, you're in the right place. The label may be quite understated, but it certainly states some of the main elements of this well-aged whiskey, and it doesn't disappoint. Great value for a bourbon with a 10 year old age statement, too (particularly as bourbon with an age statement isn't quite as common a sight as it once was).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies, treacle tarts, brown butter, a few hints of pine resin and charred oak before returning to vanilla fudge sweetness.

Palate Peanut brittle, brioche dipped in coffee, a crackle of nutmeg and black pepper. Just a smidge of raspberry in there too.

Finish Buttered popcorn, liquorice, cooked apple, a softly sweet spiciness sticks around.

Overall Everything you want out of a good bourbon is still right there in your glass.

Reviews for Charcoal & Cornmeal & Rickhouses & a Decade 10 Year Old
Decent bourbon, deserves a higher rating!
Another splendid offering from Atom Labs. There's a lot going on in this bourbon, even at 80 proof. I suspect that the same stuff that goes into this bottle, a year later becomes Atom's other bottling 'Black and Gold' which is of course bottled at a higher ABV. I further suspect that the George Dickel distillery in Tennessee may also be the source! Whilst 'Black and Gold' is mellower and richer I do find this bourbon even easier to drink, with crisp fruit notes and plenty of corn sweetness. I bought this on offer for £37.95 and would suggest to MofM that this price is more appropriate than what it usually retails for. On offer I'd buy this again. The ABV doesn't bother me particularly because I think it offers a lot of flavour for a 40% bourbon and would certainly stand out in the crowd! If the ABV is a problem for you, buy 'Black and Gold' instead. A solid four star bourbon! Thanks Atom Labs!

Very good
I was biased against this whiskey based on the boring label and uninspiring name but I was way wrong. The whiskey itself is really nice, sweet, buttery and well rounded. I tried a sample from the bourbon advent calendar and will be buying a bottle.

Ignore the naysayers, this is really good
Really high quality liquid, clearly not cheap and well worth the money. Would happily buy again.

5 star whisky, 3 star price
Other reviews a bit harsh, but this whiskey sure ain't. Absolutely stunning sippin' whiskey and yeah, there are cheaper AND more expensive 10yo bourbons, but when they're this good the price is alright by me.

Almost twice the price it should be.
As per other reviews... Wrong pricepoint guys! I would have bought at the price if it was barrel proof, but at 40% to describe this bottle as "great value" is laughable!

& underproof & overpriced
Bit of a marketing exercise in my opinion. Cheeky to bottle this at the minimum 40% and then charge a premium price for it. Sure it has a decent age statement but I'll be sticking to Eagle Rare if I want a 10 year age statement on my bourbon. Priced better and bottled at a more generous 45% too...
