Darkness! has made its way to Islay for a brilliant indie bottling of Caol Ila single malt! This is an 18 year old expression from the distillery on the east coast of the island, which has been finished in a tiny, specially coopered Moscatel sherry cask, imparting massive helped of sherried goodness to the whisky. Only 99 bottles were produced.
Zesty lemon peel and characteristic smoke as it opens, before a whack of chocolatey richness comes powering through.
Continued dark chocolate and hazelnut notes, balanced by salty sea air and green apple sharpness.
Clove, red chilli pepper flakes, coffee grounds and a touch of heather.
