Elements of Islay
Scotland
Single Malt
Here we have Cl12, the twelth wonderful batch of this particular expression from Elements of Islay. Let's be real, after 12 batches we all know by now that Cl stands for Caol Ila. The single malt was distilled on Islay in 2011 and was then allowed to mature for seven years in a pair of refill sherry butts. Finally, the whisky was bottled at cask strength, 57.5% ABV.
Lots of orange citrus, with candied orange and orange peel, with bitter dark chocolate and earthy smoky notes.
Fresh and salty sea air, with green herbaceous notes, super earthy peat and freshly cut grass, with some dried fruit sweetness.
Some rich, jammy berries linger alongside delicate smoke.

If comparing this to the Cl11 and Cl10 there is a 40% price increase while the malt is also 2-3 years younger... What's up with that?
