Caol Ila 13yo 2007 MoM

Sherried Caol Ila alert! This 2007 vintage single malt from the legendary Islay distillery spent 13 years maturing, including a finish in an oloroso sherry butt. The cask was allowed ample time to impart its sherried wisdom upon the whisky within, after which it was cracked open by us, here at Master of Malt, with 963 bottles joining our exclusive collection, as ever, non-chill filtered and with natural colour.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Burnt biscuits, charcoal, candied salted almonds, and chocolate wafers are joined by dates, malt loaf, and redbush tea.

Palate Sweet, nutty maple syrup and waves of bold, but balanced peat smoke lead the way, with poached plums and grilled peach nestling beneath.

Finish Woody spice, scorched earth, dense smoke, and black tea linger alongside cough drops and dried, honeyed fruit.

Reviews for Caol Ila 13 Year Old 2007 (Master of Malt)
Beautiful
Intense, rich, smokey honey. Luckily, I’ve got two bottles (bought at £20 off).

Lucky 13?
Not a fan of pricing these days, but the way indie Caol Ilas are going, even this seems reasonable. But it's the taste makes it worth every £. It's big and luscious, balanced and beautiful at cask strength and drinks with the sort of depth of an 18 year old whisky. Back here buying another and thought i'd leave my first review
