Caol Ila 11yo Eclipse Bottling Note

This right here is a rather snazzy James Eadie indie bottling of single malt Scotch whisky from Islay's Caol Ila Distillery, matured in three refill hogshead casks from 2010 to 2022. Delicious Islay whisky – sounds good to us! It has been given the name The Eclipse, after a pub that James Eadie used to own many moons ago.

Get it? Many moons ago. The Eclipse? Space puns!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Smoky peanut shells and flamed peels, with a hint of buttered toast.

Palate: Still plenty smoky, with layers of honey, menthol, and a hint of sawdust.

Finish: Lasting salted lemon and a hint of caramel.

Caol Ila 11 Year Old 2010 – The Eclipse (James Eadie) Reviews

A fine independent bottling.

I recently purchased a bottle of this in the `farm shop` on Tebay services and boy, am I glad I did. As a fan of Islay whiskys, this independent bottling of Caol Ila is a truly enjoyable dram. Being bottled at 46%, natural coloured and unchilfiltered, it ticked all the boxes and I am about to buy another bottle, this time from M.O.M.
