Cameronbridge 21 Year Old 1990 - The Clan Denny (Douglas Laing)

This is a powerful, syrupy, grain whisky, packing an almighty 58.2%abv. Grain whisky is becoming more and more popular as people become canny to its amazing value for money. By the nature of grain whisky it requires a lot longer in cask than malt whisky to make it palatable hence why they are usually bottled in excess of twenty years old, however they are also a lot cheaper to make - long story short you get old whisky at a better price!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Sweet vanilla icecream drizzled with golden syrup then sprinkled with mixed spice.

Palate

A vanilla bomb followed by cinnamon, nutmeg, red chili and green apple.

Finish

The finish is robust and spicy. Chili flakes, cardamon and mixed spice all come together in a mighty conclusion.

Overall

Sweet and syrupy like a grain whisky should be but possessing more spice and weight than many thanks to its strength and relative youth.
