Fruity, aromatic palate. Salty butter, all kinds of blossom, sweet vanilla cream and citrus.
A malty finish with cardamom and ginger on the tail.
Just about the best value in a bottle that I've found. I'm mostly a single malt Scotch guy, but I find myself really enjoying this very smooth Irish spirit with a different palate. I've noticed a real chocolate sense on the nose, and the back of the tongue, with a little spice on the back of the throat. It goes down easy, and tastes mighty fine for the price. If you're curious about it, I can't recommend jumping on this one enough. I certainly like to keep a bottle in my cabinet at all times.
For the price an excellent whiskey.
The tasting notes by the whiskey club are absolutely spot on for my money (and palate). To all the different aromas detected I would add something: I get a distinct coastal kind of minerallyness (is that a word?)on this one; more than ever before in fact. I hear that their 10 yo malt is getting better and better; could this have something to do with the improvement of the white bush blended? I suspect so. Thats my theory anyway. All in all a fantasic value.
If you are on a budget this one is a terrific option. Intrinsic good quality and authenticity, very approachable yet distinctive. 3 stars easily, the half a star because I am feeling generous and also because of very good memories attached to this whiskey.
Yeah, this is drinkable but not particularly impressive really. Of all the most popular whiskeys found in pubs this is probably the best choice. Jason Breen
