If you've been in a bar (any bar, really), you've more than likely seen a bottle of this on the shelf. One of the most well-known Irish blends, Bushmills Black Bush features a lot of sherried malt in its recipe, alongside classically caramel-y grain whiskey. Suitable for enjoying neat, but it can also be used in whiskey cocktails that call for dark fruit sweetness...
Over-ripe grape and light citrus on the nose. A touch of toffee and peanut.
Vanilla and milk bottle sweeties. Dried peels, chamomile tea and cinnamon sticks.
Digestive biscuit, cooked plum and orange oil.
I've drank Teelings single grain and was flabbergasted by how good it was, i know the blender of Teelings is from Bushmills, that said in mind with the comparison of various single malts (incl. 10 year old Bush), which i like, and various blends have come to the conclusion i have found my mark, did not the Irish discover whiskey hehe, but this is a well rounded whisky, as my Irish ☘️ Pastor said “this is the good shit!”
Receipe has changed it’s very sharp and cutting
Great whiskey for the money. I’ve yet to find a better whiskey below £30. Malty and slightly dark fruit flavour, with definitely strong notes of Christmas pudding. A constant in my drinks cabinet.
I don't get all the reviews stating that this blend is punching above it's weight, "It's worth 3 times more!" Sure, it's smooth and it has a bit of a darker note to it, but that's pretty much it. As a daily drinker it works fine but it does not offer something special. And I find this often to be the case with Bushmills whiskys in general. I personally prefer Jameson Cask Mates over Black Bush, especially when the price is more or less that same.
Rich and smooth neat or with one big ice cube.
