Burnt Ends
Blended
Burnt ends - the sleeper hit of the barbecue world. Your brain might jump to Flintstone-sized racks of ribs and piles of pulled pork when barbecue is brought up, but those charred, smoky morsels are hard to beat. With that in mind, behold, Burnt Ends Blended Whisky! Inspired by the tasty goods served at the barbecue joints of the USA, this rich, meaty expression brings together smooth American rye whiskey and sherry cask-finished peated single malt Scotch whisky, all within a bottle that looks like it should hold barbecue sauce. It's meaty, smoky, rich and satisfying stuff.
Deliciously rich and spicy with rye notes prominent. Massive hit of peat quickly overtakes the proceedings, with more than a touch of apple juice in the background.
Epic. Barbecue sauce and smoky sausage all the way. The marriage of rye and peat hangs together perfectly.
Long, smoky, lingering.
A spectacularly put-together, highly unconventional whisk(e?)y which holds its own when sipped, but cries out for mixing.
All I got from the first sip was smoke, after that it opened up and could taste the American whiskey flavours along with the smoky scotch. I only had a 3cl sample but a full size bottle is on my wish list.
Wasn’t sure what to expect from this bottle, but I was very pleasantly surprised when I cracked it open. Nice and smoky but not so overwhelming it overshadows the American influence. Just need to make a bigger bottle now, was gone in little over a week ?
Don't go for this expecting a whisky, this is so very different, but in a good way. There is so much flavour to this, I loved it... my only gripe is that the bottle is too small and it was gone too soon!
It's interesting but smoke is very dominant on the palate, it is there on the nose but very strong in taste. I am a big bourbon and rye fan, this is sippable but not as much rye as I would like
Young spirit is rather harsh. In my opinion this dram doesn't quite work. The bottle is quaint though. Probably better to spend your money on any of the core Ardberg range.
