Burnt Ends
Blended
Burnt ends - the sleeper hit of the barbecue world. Your brain might jump to Flintstone-sized racks of ribs and piles of pulled pork when barbecue is brought up, but those charred, smoky morsels are hard to beat. With that in mind, behold, Burnt Ends Blended Whisky! Inspired by the tasty goods served at the barbecue joints of the USA, this rich, meaty expression brings together smooth American rye whiskey and sherry cask-finished peated single malt Scotch whisky, all within a bottle that looks like it should hold barbecue sauce. It's meaty, smoky, rich and satisfying stuff.
Deliciously rich and spicy with rye notes prominent. Massive hit of peat quickly overtakes the proceedings, with more than a touch of apple juice in the background.
Epic. Barbecue sauce and smoky sausage all the way. The marriage of rye and peat hangs together perfectly.
Long, smoky, lingering.
A spectacularly put-together, highly unconventional whisk(e?)y which holds its own when sipped, but cries out for mixing.
Very interesting indeed. And hits all the notes and taste profiles you could want as a whiskey lover. There’s that sweet rye, that smoky island and sweet again Sherry finish. Sorts of rolls over your tongue and round your mouth like a drunk Dad late in the evening on barbecue night.
If you're looking for different flavours in your whisky journey, this will blow you away. It definitely tastes of quality, and the BBQ sauce aftertaste, will make you smile, and then offer it around for everyone to try. Because it's so unexpectedly good... unless you hate BBQ sauce.
Nice straight and made particularly good old fashioned and sazerac cocktails
Personally I thought this was really tasty and kept going back for more, but could see how this could be divisive.
Absolute bargain for a medium peated dram. It may not have the complexity some but at this price it's a top 5 for me. Certainly one I'll buy again.
