Single Malt
Bunnahabhain
Scotland

Bunnahabhain's Stiùireadair single malt pays homage to the distillery's shoreline on the north-east coast of Islay. They used whisky matured in first and second fill Sherry casks, with a leaning towards deliciously coastal malt.
Brine, toasted sugar and caramel-drizzled raisins.
Honey-roasted nuts, cinnamon and clove, with a touch of salt sea too.
Sherried peels and chilli-chocolate.

Gave a disparaging review of this earlier. However, I have to say now that with a little water it opens up and gives a definite sense of hay + honey + (faintly) bourbon. Better.
So wanted to like this having read the tasting notes, but it's harsh and acidic with a weird overlay of kids' sweets
As someone who's new to whisky I was keen to try this. Obviously this is the budget end of whiskies from this distillery but that's fine. I have to say, for the price this was impressive. Nutty, fruity notes with a hint of marzipan on the nose, and again a fruity, marzipan taste, with a grassy air to it. Nice mouth feel too, very smooth. Would definitely recommend.
Best value purchase I've made in quite a while. Tasty and warm, but a bit thin for me. Definitely taste the coastal influence and sherry. It's a Bunna, no surprises there. Will buy again if it stays at or below $30.
I like sherried whisky, but this one is a bit much.
