Bunnahabhain 35 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

Wonderful old Bunnahabhain single malt - the sort of stuff whisky enthusiast's dreams are made of! This independently bottled 35 year old Bunnahabhain from That Boutique-y Whisky Company boasts a flavour profile that shows off its age brilliantly, and givens you an idea of the kind of antics that go on at the distillery on Islay. Things like rally car driving, shark avoiding, Duffie truck admiration - that sort of stuff.

Batch 4 is a release of 302 bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

A dry and dusty nose initially, with empty walnut shells and leather-bound tomes before it opens to wet rocks, tough heather, seaweed and a little coastal smoke. Notes of honey and brown sugar appear, before a slight floral note tempers the sweetness, as aromas of fruit loaf, old apples and buttery shortbread hang tastefully.

Palate

A soft and supple opening brings forth a complex array of golden fruit, leather smokiness and prickly molasses. Sweet cereals, toasted almonds and sticky toffee pudding provide an underlying sweetness to black liquorice, mochaccino and ginger and nutmeg spice.

Finish

An assured and soft finish, with a little tobacco leaf and lingering treacle sweetness.

Overall

A brilliant mix of stately complexity and funky fun, this breathtaking Bunnah would go smashingly well in a Blood and Sand cocktail.
