Port Charlotte 13yo TBWC Bottling Note

Excellent peated single malt from the Bruichladdich distillery, released under the Port Charlotte name and independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. This one was aged for 13 years and given a label showing off the five molecules that all peated whisky fans worship - Phenol, O-Cresol, M-Cresol, P-Cresol and Guaiacol. These five catchily-named molecules make up the phenolic compounds in peated whisky, making it smoky. Good job, molecules!

Batch 6 is a release of 1,317 bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A lean and mossy nose carries plenty of earthy peat, smoked sea salt and burnt heather. Chestnuts, sweet fruit and a meaty element build as the aroma progresses.

Palate: The palate carries a medical quality, TCP, among a healthy amount of sweetness from vanilla, violet and a hint of cherry. More peat ’n’ meat keeps the character true to form.

Finish: Surprisingly delicate, there’s a little brown sugar among touches of earth and soot.

Overall: A youthful Port Charlotte that provides plenty of pep to balance powerful peat.
