Bruichladdich
Octomore 17.2 5 Year Old 70cl Whisky
Description
For Edition 17.2 in the Octomore Series, Bruichladdich treated its super heavily peated single malt to a double wood maturation. Distilled from 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley, malted to 81PPM, the whisky spent its first four years in casks that first held Californian red wine, then bourbon, followed by a final year's maturation in first-fill Port barriques.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Summer fruits and darker berries cushion peppery, earthy peat smoke.
Palate
Rich, fruity notes of cassis and strawberry lead the way as peat smoke builds steadily, with a touch of citrus shining through.
Finish
Pepper, earthy smoke, hibiscus, and lime oil.
