Octomore 11.1 from Islay's Bruichladdich Distillery one again shows off heavily-peated single malt, but does so with brilliant poise and restraint - it's super peaty, but it's not absurd and unpalatable. This particular edition is a 5 year old expression, distilled using Scottish Concerto and Propino barley, then matured in first-fill American whiskey casks from Jack Daniel's, Jim Beam and Heaven Hill.
Cut grass, fragrant smoke and BBQ meats, with a squeeze of lemon and lime.
Caramelised sugar, charred oak staves, red chilli, another hint of citrus balanced by sea salt.
Lingering coastal peat richness.

£130.24Certainly citrus, but lacks depth to me, just disappears. Better than the 10.1, which is very flat though.
Breathtaking..... Literally the best whisky I have ever had. Highly recommend.
