Bruichladdich Greener Still 15 Year Old
Bruichladdich celebrates 25 years since it was re-founded in 2001 with a marvellous limited-edition single malt. Distilled from a combination of bere, biodynamic, and organic barley, Greener Still expresses both the flavour and the farming philosophy of the distillery. Each barley varietal plays a particular role, resulting in soft floral aromas, honeyed sweetness on the palate, wrapped up with velvety vanilla and coastal freshness.
This single malt spent 15 years maturing in a host of first-fill bourbon barrels based at the distillery on Islay, and bottled to pay tribute to the distillery's commitment to environmentally conscious growing and distilling.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
All the vanilla and tropical fruit give it a nostalgic aroma of an orange Solero ice cream. It's also got an old-school funk along with that buttery Bruichladdich lactone element, plus a lovely apricot jam note. Garden herbs and coastal minerality bring depth in the backdrop.
Palate
Sweet fudge kicks things off alongside a mix of lemon, pear, grapefruit peel and a little banana. The palate thickens and becomes more silky as you drink. There’s hints of almond and coconut oil, a prickle of peppery heat and some maltiness. Water helps to bunch up the spicy elements, which start to sizzle in more Bruichladdich butteriness.
Finish
Salted caramel, vanilla, and orchard fruit linger.
