A Càrn Mòr bottling of Braes of Glenlivet (known as Braeval these days), which was matured in 2 hogshead casks from 1989 to 2014. Bottled at 25 years old, without added colours or chill-filtration, this is a wonderful way to enjoy the classic Speyside style of Braeval whisky.

Tasting notes: The cork smelled strongly of sherry, which was a very pleasant surprise. First nose was sweet, very sweet, though not cloying. Demerara sugar, sherry, and a hint of spice. By the third nose, these notes had muted considerably to a cleaner, almost minty nose. This whisky has pronounced legs. The taste is wonderful, well rounded, notably sweet; moderate spice (nutmeg?) followed by a quite long, sweet finish - honey, demarara sugar again, perhaps a hint of caramel or toffee. This whisky is a delight. Light, sweet, no strong peat or smoke - I am going to have to be very restrained, or I could demolish this bottle far too easily. It is well worth the money. Full masks also to the Masters of Malt for speedy service, excellent packaging and bringing me this beautiful whisky.
