The first release in Bowmore's Vault Edition series, launched in 2016. This series will explore four of the characteristics found in Bowmore's whiskies after maturing in their No.1 Vaults maturation warehouse. For the first release, the whisky possesses up-front notes of Atlantic sea salt!

This has tempest inheritance without a doubt. Put it next to any standard Islay and the fruit is strong, and typical Bowmore - tropical, clean, somewhere near grapefruit. Fans of Tempest will be very interested, because the other dimensions are smoke and wood, and an unusal balance for a Bowmore. This is really, really good just overpriced. The sea salt is so aptly named, but the rest is a Tempest song meets modest Islay, with fruit on top.
I agree the price - especially upon first release - was uncalled for, but the whisky is not only sound but rather unusual for Bowmore. It's missing the smoke-with-body Islay predictability, but rather really comes across as salt meets spice on Islay, with the smoke not an afterthought, but along for the ride from start to finish. The whisky overall is crispy and citrusy, sharp and spicy, rather solid. An excellent Bowmore, top marks. But indeed overpriced, undeniably.
I really enjoyed this Bowmore. Lots going on from dentists office Novocain to sea salt(but not much) to fruit and liquorice root. Lots to enjoy. From Mark at WhiskyWhistle
NAS and priced over the 18yo.
Nice Bowmore with a lot of yellow fruits, vanilla, sea breeze. Ok, it's a bit overpriced but a very nice dram with tropical fruit notes and a moderated smoke. I enjoyed it a lot.
