Bowmore Small Batch is an elegant Islay single malt, when gets matured in both first-fill and second-fill bourbon barrels. A great introduction to Bowmore's lovely smoky flavour profile - the Small Batch is refined, light and well balanced with plenty of honey, coconut and vanilla notes.

Licorice, honey, tropical fruit and a touch of smoke. The aftertaste is quite long and taste licorice combined with smoke. A very fresh and enjoyable dram. It's not a peatmonster like somebody said in recent reviews but it's good!

It was cheap, but I would not buy it again. Very smoky, not much else. Not to my taste at all. A bit light and insubstantial.

Bought a bottle yesterday in NYC for $33- + tax. I was looking for a peaty experience, but this was really sup-parr. Black Grouse would surpass. AVOID!

They must have radically changed the recipe for this recently. This is a full metal jacket, balls to the wall, peat-monster. Very enjoyable and better balance than the 12 year old. TCP bandages in honey. Very nice if you like that sort of thing which I do. A nice drying finish makes this a deliciously moreish dram.

If you have seen any of my other reviews you'll know that I really love single malt scotch whisky and rarely do I give a bad review on anything they are all quite wonderful to me.However there have only ever really been 2 distilleries that didn't really impress me and those are Auchentoshan and Bowmore.I gave Auchentoshan 3 chances to really make me love them and although I enjoyed the american oak the 12 year and the triple wood were quite syrupy and reeked of caramel coloring and that is a big turn off for me so as of now Auchentoshan would probably have to be my least favorite distillery I have had so far.My second least favorite distillery would probably be Bowmore because I tried their 12 year against all the other entry level bottles Islay had to offer and wasn't too impressed it lacked the raw ,rich character that other Islay whiskys possessed and quickly became a distillery I all but forgot about. However I spontaneously bought a bottle of this small batch stuff at my local spot today and I ordered many other whiskys so look for more reviews from me soon.Anyways on with this review: This doesnt look so fake colored as the 12 year and smells peatier and oakier, It isn't as peaty as other Islays I'd compare more to longrow probably but the bourbon oak makes this quite pleasant hint of citrus with some vanilla and that sea salt goodness that lets you know it aged by the coast. A nice even fairly mellow peat works it way through this whisky and helps disguise any youth. My favorite thing I have had from Bowmore so far and now I am willing to try more from them glad I gave this distillery a second chance. The Sugarbear

Amazing smoky flavor with nice smooth finish in your mouth. Amazing whisky if you can get under 30£ or 50$. Can be a weekday whisky or enjoyed with friends, they will love it.

First Bowmore offering I have tasted. I am New to Scotch Whisky, coming from the Craft Beer World, thru Bourbon. The Nose is Viscous and pleasantly Sweet. The Palate has a Slight Pleasant burn on the tongue and pleasantly Viscous and full as well. Lightly Smokey in the Finish with pleasant viscosity remaining. Not my first Islay Whisky, but it is an excellent expression of the Islay Style of Whisky, in my opinion, with a pleasant Smokey Viscous Dry Finish in the mouth. Excellent Value at the Price. Highly recommended!! Excellent Introduction to the Peaty Islay Style

Just bought a bottle for £25 in my local supermarket and I think it is an excellent introduction to the distillery. I'll now be seeking out other offerings from them.

Lightly peated and surprisingly little oak; smooth although with a touch of fire in mix, altogether very enjoyable without being special. Shame about the very short finish. This is to my mind a very good £30+ all rounder that should please anyone.I'm encouraged by this one & might seek out an older Bowmore next time

Actually, pretty good whisky. Best to ignore the pretentious 'easy sipping dram' twaddle & Bowmore's meaningless marketing-speak.This achieves the holy grail of being: VERY reasonably priced, softly smoky, almost smooth but retaining some fire and widely available. A modern commercial branded whisky that has been cleverly designed. My only gripe is it has a tad too much youth (oh and the usual complaint regarding caramel / filtering) Not sure I would bother buying again

gotta a hold of this dram last week. Really enjoyed it.

I obtained a bottle of this whisky on a promotional special for $30 USD. Having experienced several Bowmore offerings before, I found this one to be an exceptionally good deal and a very well balanced dram for the price. The maritime characteristics of Bowmore 12 are delightfully complimented by a fruity, fresh young spirit element and this is definitely a very smooth, easy sipping dram. My one complaint is the excessive smoothness...some character would definitely be added by boosting the ABV to 43-46%.

not as good as the 12

Find the green apple taste to be too much of a young whisky but it does have a nice peaty overtone to it.
