A splendid expression from Bowmore, carefully selected by the Islay distillery's Maltmen. These men continue the traditional floor maltings at the distillery – a rare thing in modern Scotch whisky production. This whisky was selected from five casks which were filled on 13th July 1995.

Malty and spiced, black pepper and treacle, honeycomb, smoke and peppermint. Muscular and brazen, notes of the coast.
Lemon and spice, violets, malt and thick, tarry smoke. Hints of iodine and golden syrup.
Smoky and mint on the tail, with notes of salty butter and toffee apples.
Just finished bottle 585 after a visit to Bowmore 7 years ago to the day. Amazing complexity, depth, smokey sublime bliss. One of the best Islay offerings, truly exemplary, and a collection favorite.
