Bladnoch 18 Year Old 1992 - Old Malt Cask (Douglas Laing)

This is an eighteen year old bottling of Bladnoch from Douglas Laing's Old Malt Cask range. Bladnoch is Scotland's southernmost distillery and after being mothballed in 1993 it was reopened at the beginning of the millennium. This bottling is from stock prior to the closure in 1993.

The Old Malt Cask range began as a release of fifty bottlings in 1998 to commemorate Douglas Laing's fiftieth anniversary. Today they offer many, many more. All bottlings in the range are non-chill filtered and contain no naughty colouring.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

The nose is surprisingly malty and rich for a Lowland whisky and it isn't until a second sniff that subtle vanilla and spice notes emerge.

Palate

Tropical fruits, in particular melon and pineapple, leading to strawberry jam and redcurrant jelly.

Finish

Creamy with passion fruit and banana.

Overall

Malty and fruity whilst maintaining a fairly light Lowland body.
