Black & Gold 11yo Bourbon

Black & Gold is a particularly snazzy bourbon which has enjoyed 11 years of maturation, allowing it to develop a rewarding, complex and overall excellent flavour profile. It was aged in slowly-charred barrels, and it was that charring that helped to introduce brilliantly bold notes of brown sugar, decadent vanilla and rich cigar box. As the bottle says, "Fire made it good". The casks were hand-selected, and it's fairly clear why they were picked - this bourbon is spectacular indeed. The bottle also happens to be incredibly handsome too, which is always a bonus.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Dense vanilla, toasted brown sugar atop apple pie, gingersnaps and cinnamon sticks.

Palate Caramelised nuts, cask char leading to earthy cigar box and vanilla pod, with a touch of maple syrup hiding in there too.

Finish Lasting oak and forest floor richness, well-balanced by toffee and chocolate sweetness.

Overall Everything you could want from a bourbon and more, this expression is simply astonishing.

Reviews for Black & Gold 11 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey
Not great
Drinks much hotter than it's age and ABV. Vety sharp and lacks complexity.

Pleasantly Surprised
I have a varied range of Bourbons on my shelves and will reach for a different bottle as my palette dictates - and while i'm no whiskey sommelier able to describe and dissect its flavours - to me. this bottle sits well among my woodford reserved double oaked and eagle rare 10 year.

He loves it!
Well he’s on to his second bottle and still loves it, not my taste but bought as a gift.

Doesn't have the depth of other bourbons it's age
I bought this as it is an older bourbon and I have enjoyed a few with that deep flavour you get. This bourbon disappointed for what it seemed to promise. It is quite generic in its flavour profile and doesn't really have anything characteristics of its age. Not for me

Outstanding to sip, smooth as silk and stunning depth of flavour.
I have tried a lot of bourbons over the last few years and this one is easily as good, if not better, than those over the £150 mark!!! Fantastic, I will be ordering again 👍👍

Tasty, but lacks real depth of flavour.
It's a tasty whiskey, but I do find I get bored after a couple of drams and move onto something else, it's very smooth and easy drinking, more of a every day dram.

It's tasty, with brown sugar, a hint of vanilla and caramel, nice length of finish, but it lacks depth and complexity, maybe BIB. I like it, but it's just a bit meh, and slightly boring, and for a every day drinker it's a bit pricey. I do tend to prefer CS bourbon though, and at CS I bet this would be fantastic.

Rich flavours very warming highly rated by us great for summer evenings but better for the cold winter nights. Great tipple

Awesome.
Fantastic. Comparing to the Eagle Rare I got with it, it's better tasting and smoother across the board for only £15 more. Eagle Rare is my go to for budget bourbon, yet this beats it on Tate for marginally more money. A great pick, worth 5 stars.

Smashes most bourbons twice the price out of the park.
Incredible bourbon. Smashes most bourbons twice the price out of the park.

Full of depth, great variety, yet balance of flavours and wonderful mouthfeel.
