“Never tried a blended malt until this . WOW . FOR ME ITS A FULL.ON COFFEE TOFFEE CARAMEL VANILLA TREACLE FEST . Let it sit for a minute or 2 then let it warm up . By the time you've reached the last sip it's a bar of dark coffee toffee chocolate . At this price buy 2 . ”

Description

The team at the legendary independent bottler Berry Brother's and Rudd specially selected a blend of sherry cask single malts to create this classic example of a well-sherried Scotch whisky.

It is one of the four offerings released as part of The Classic Range which was launched in the spring of 2018. It's great value for money and should be a treat for those who love a big sherry bomb.

Nose

Blood orange juice, brown sugar and dried fruit lead with a hint of charred pineapple and perhaps some rancio.

Palate

Black fruit compote, herbal tea and a little bitter dark chocolate. Seville orange marmalade and fiery cinnamon add depth.

Finish

Christmas cake notes remain.

Amazing value for money

I love Sherry Casks. But at first I was warry of this one, because the smell was very sharp and alcoholic, despite just 45%. Must admit though, the taste is very sweet, and it makes your head light as if it was all 60%. For 45GBP, it’s a no-brainer, and probably one of the best whiskeys from the Advent Calendar yet.

A bit of an odd one

To me, this blended Whisky has a bit of a weak nose with bonfire toffee, apple and cinnamon notes. Palate of liquorice and pastry crust followed by a lingering aftertaste of vanilla custard and winter spices. Overall, a Whisky which is just above being mediocre to me.

Full of Flavour

I am a fan of sherry conditioned whisky, I also like blended malts so this hits the spot for me and it will make a regular appearance in my whisky stash. A definite favourite.

With 2 small ice cubes and a few minutes this is delicious, full of coffee and toffee flavours for me but I am sure we will all find something different in here I love it!
