This Benromach was filled in a refill American sherry hogshead back in 1973. There it lay over in Speyside for many moons, until the cask was cracked open in November 2019. A limited 66 bottles were released at cask strength, weighing in at 50.1% ABV, complete with a very impressive oak presentation case. The case actually represents the wood of the original Benromach washbacks, and you'll also find a hardback booklet containing a history of the distillery in there, too.
