Benromach 15YO

A 2015 release to the brilliant Benromach range. The Benromach 15 Year Old is matured in a selection of bourbon and Sherry casks, resulting in an intense but balanced flavour profile. There's big spices (think ginger, mint and a little sprinkle of cinnamon), there's juicy fruit (plum and clementine), there's a touch of smoky charred oak - all well placed and in harmony with each other. Yummers.

Reviews for Benromach 15 Year Old
Heavenly
You wouldn’t think it was 43%. Oily, flavourful, terrific nose. Old school whisky made very well indeed by people with taste and know-how. Also helps it’s not extortionately priced for its age. Worth it.

Slight peat notes
Bought as a gift for someone who likes a Speyside single malt but doesn’t like a whisky which is peaty. This was one recommended by Master of Malt but unfortunately does have a slight peat finish. Was bought for a 75th birthday as it cost £75 but not one I would buy again.

Wonderful
Great drop and one to rival Oban 14 imho. I like the unusual flavour for a Speyside. There's amble smoke but no peat.
Rich, smokey, sweet and complex. Long flavour to be enjoyed with each sip.

Smooth and complex; intriguing mix of flavours.
Smooth and aromatic; a wee drop of water brings out the spices, sweetness and a bit of sandalwood. A truly delightful dram and a bargain at the asking price.
Give it a try!

Brilliant balance, something a bit different
Has been a favourite for some time for me now. Wonderful toffee on the nose, silky oil mouth feel, rich forest fruit, sharpness and funky tangy finish

Warm spice with stone fruit and honey notes
Spicy. Stone fruits. Honey. Slightly Peary but not overpowering. A truly delicious dram that will only get smoother with time.

Flawless
Beautiful citrus and floral nose with a fantastic complex honeyed flavour that develops the longer you hold the whisky on the tongue. Long and satisfying finish with a pleasant taste of oak that sticks around for hours.

Insensibly melting
A gooey, everlasting, slightly underbaked (in the best possible way) orange shortbread of a whisky that's also been gently kissed with black pepper and vanilla. Just lovely.

One of my top favourites!
This was a fantastic surprise as never tried any Benromach before. The smell and flavour is very rich, with smoked plum and dried fruits aromas. A nicely balanced sweetness and smokey notes. So much happening in the nose and on tongue, that I can put it even above the Balvenie.

Not worth the money
Far too oaky. My wife asked for an un paled Speyside malt and was given this. Had to tell her it was a great present but frankly compared to other 15 yr malts it’s rubbish unless you like something very strong and more Talsker like!!
