Benromach 10 Year Old 2012 - Virgin Oak Kiln Dried

Benromach 10yo 2012 Kiln Bottling Note

A rather fascinating limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside's Benromach distillery, matured in virgin oak casks that were dried in the kiln. That's a contrast to air-drying the casks and Benromach has also released an edition where the casks were processed like that, offering a very interesting comparison into the effect this has on the final product.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Lemon peel, digestive biscuits, apple, and brown sugar.

Palate Tropical fruit, subtle smoke, marmalade on toast, and cinnamon warmth.

Finish Peppery spice and sweet smoke.

Sweet malted biscuit
I tried this with a friend and we agreed that there was a sweet malted biscuit flavour with hints of cinnamon , apple and lemon. We couldn't taste any smoke, but it is nice enough not to care. A interesting variation and a different dram.
