Single Malt
Scotland
1 Jan 1974

This 1974 was bottled for Gordon and MacPhail's Connoisseur's Choice range following a tenure in refill sherry hogsheads. The sherried notes are indeed rife with honeyed sweetness and hints of spice.
The nose is quite full-bodied and rich. There are notes of juicy fruits and boiled sweets. Chewy sultanas emerge with winter spice. Toasted oak reveals rum notes and pepper, there are notes of beeswax and leafy greenness with a well-balanced sweetness. The palate is quite rich and full with a good thickness to the mouth feel. There are notes of feinty leather and cigar box. Sherried sultanas and peels emerge with caramelised plums and smoke. The finish is sherried and rich.
