Wine Cask

This 25 year old Benriach was released as part of the distillery's 16th (16th!) batch of single cask releases. After distillation on 27 September 1993, it spent its days in a cask which previously held Rioja wine. Loads of chocolate and dark fruity notes in this one. Once it turned a quarter of a century old, it was finally bottled, with the cask yielding 231 bottles at 54.3% ABV.
Chocolate, toasted hazelnut and cherry cake open to reveal plum, baking spice and burnt vanilla meringue, with a back-note of leather and tobacco leaf.
The bittersweet taste of dark chocolate and blackberry compote lead to smoked plum, black pepper and cherry stone into the firm, fruity finish.
