Curiositas is a 10 year old, peated release from the BenRiach distillery in what they call the 'classic Speyside style'. A distinct malt with great depth and a bittersweet balance.
Sweet grassy malt, succulent fudge and hints of smoke and heather lead. There's a touch of malmsey underneath with fragrant honey and mellow oak.
Caramelised sugar and strong cereal flavours form the core. Marshmallows, ripe stone fruit and a warm nuttiness develop while peppery spice tingles in the backdrop with green wood smoke.
Bittersweet with slight suggestions of dry oak, beeswax and fennel.
I'm an Ardbeg and all Islay scotch fan. This right here is one of the best dram I've ever tasted. And for the price you can't go wrong.
This is possibly my favorite distillery in Speyside I love that they make both peated and unpeated expressions at so many ages and both are pretty equally incredible. My first whisky I bought from Benriach was the 17 year septendecim which was extraordinary and in my top 5 favorites. This is not as smooth and doesn't have the same complexity but this is an awesome 10 year old. I love the peat with the fruity character of a Speyside it's just so unique, quite herbal and medicinal tasting as well with a long smoky finish. Really excellent stuff any Islay fan will love this or any peated expression from Benriach ,really changes your perception of what Speyside whisky can be. The Sugarbear
Bought a bottle when in Gordon & MacPhail at Christmas & just opened it - It is absolutely first rate!! Rod Oliver Lisburn Co Antrim
Picked this up for a great price at work recently, shared a dram with colleagues and guests alike; Beautiful! The peat was spot on, smoky, herby, a real treat. Drink neat, unlike a lot of peaty whiskies this needs no ice or water. Pour and enjoy!
highly enjoyable from someone who en joys a Laphraoig
