Benchmark by name, benchmark by nature. This really is one for the more well Bourbon producers to beat, and despite its status as an outsider, really warrants some attention - especially if cocktails are on the menu.
Nose: Aromatic and quite sweet. Soft toasty spices, salted caramel and vanilla pod earthiness.
Palate: A creamy spirit carrying custard, toffee apple and biscuity notes.
Finish: Cinnamon, chocolate digestives and tangerine.

My favorite "cheap" bourbon. $10 a 750ml bottle in Ohio. Yeah, I like Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Jefferson Reserve, and a whole bunch of other bourbons/whiskeys, but my go to is Benchmark 8.

It's great but hard to find in rural western Oregon

Funny one this, thought I'd give it a shot as I'd heard it was a bit of a lottery. People saying it's what doesn't quite make the mark for standard buffalo trace? Not sure about that tbh. It's not bad. It's no frills bourbon. There's some interesting notes in there but it's so young and thin. It's better than beam white. From what they pay in the states for it £20 is a bit steep. Fork out another fiver and you can get an ezra brooks or Evan Williams or a standard heaven Hill.M. Horrell

Cost $31 canadian that's with a $3 discount. Wtf? First time I've tried it here. Better than JB.

I drive across town to pick up a 750ml bottle for $8.49 here in Denver. Not as complex as most aged top shelf Bourbons but definitely not offensive like many other bottom shelf Bourbons. Except for Very Old Barton I doubt you can find a better bottom shelf Bourbon.

best bourbon for the price period.

Judged within it's class (Beam White, etc) this is a fun and groovy whiskey that's cheap and likable. I paid 15 bucks for a liter. It's light, but it talks to you, and there's no nasty aftertaste. A good whiskey for weekend afternoon sipping while watching a ball game.

Clean and balanced. Neither too heavy or too sharp. Tasty.
