A superb single cask release from Ardgowan’s Clydebuilt series, this 2014 vintage Ben Nevis was handpicked by whisky maker Laura Davies to showcase the distillery’s deep love of sherry cask maturation. Matured in a single sherry butt (cask #800040) at Ardgowan itself, it’s a rich, full-bodied Highland malt that demonstrates exactly what close cask monitoring and patience can achieve. Bottled at cask strength without chill filtration or colouring, this is a characterful whisky – and with only 327 bottles, it won’t stick around.
Cinnamon and stewed pears, with hints of polished oak and toffee sweetness.
Butterscotch sauce, freshly grated nutmeg, and layers of rich, sherried depth.
