Presented by the folks at Barrell Craft Spirits in Louisville, Kentucky, this batch of bourbon comprises a blend of straight bourbon whiskeys distilled and aged in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. A selection of six and seven-year-old high rye, high-proof barrels with an earthy, spicy, oak-forward character was blended with softer, lower-proof barrels of eight-year-old bourbon, bringing notes of dark cherry and butterscotch. After these portions spent two months marrying, they were layered with a selection of 13-year-old barrels, some of which boasted notes of tropical fruit, while others leaned more towards dried and candied fruit flavours. The derived mash bill comprises 78% corn, 18% rye, and 4% malted barley, drawn from American white oak barrels and bottled up at cask strength.
