The second chapter of Balvenie's extensive DCS Compendium looks at "The Influence of Oak". This bottling comes from said chapter - it was distilled in August 1997 and aged in a European Port puncheon until September 2016, when it was bottled with an outturn of only 265 bottles.
Producer's Tasting Notes: Nose: Creamy toffee notes of brown sugar, hints of dried fruits and delicate spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. Palate: Warm and inviting, with prunes, plums and figs. Tropical fruit juice, sweet wood spices and dried fruits. Finish: Lingering with dried fruits, oak spices and sweet wine.
