Balvenie The Week of Peat

One of three releases in The Balvenie Stories range, this is a peaty 14 year old single malt Scotch whisky, inspired by distillery manager Ian Millar installing a peat burner at Balvenie. For one week each year, the distillery created peated whisky using Speyside peat, resulting in expressions that introduce fragrant smoke notes to the classic Balvenie flavour profile.

Reviews for Balvenie 14 Year Old - The Week of Peat
Beautifully crafted
This is possibly the smoothest, silkiest peat-smoke whisky I’ve ever tried. Love it!

Perfect, outstanding.
The smell of fruits and vanilla with a smoke on the background. The combination is perfect.
Just superb and not cheap. But worth every penny.

Lovely drop
I'm really enjoying this, it's a lovely well balanced Whisky. For me, it could be more peaty. I will try the 17 y/o next as I have heard that may hit the spot.

Week of peat
I would say more smoke than peat , But yes quite a lot of peat quite a lot on the citrus orange peel , Got to be honest not one of my favourite malts , As it doesn’t carry a lot of sweetness to my liking , I’ll stick to Lagavulin which has both ,Glad I didn’t pay to much for it ‘

Incredible
Bought it for my dad last year and he won't stop going on about how incredible it is. Can safely say I'm sorted for fathers days to come now.

Excellent Dram and Value
Absolutely delightful dram. Just the right amount of smoke balanced with the delicate Balvenie whisky. Much more subtle and interesting than the island peated whiskies. A great whisky at a great price.

Delightful from beginning to finish
After I retired my physician suggested I might want to have a wee dram of an evening (not how he put it exactly). It was a surprising suggestion, but one I was not inclined to argue with. Back in my youthful drinking days I had not developed a taste for scotch, which I attribute to the cheap varieties available to me at the time. As I shopped for that "wee dram of an evening" I eventually came across a scotch with "peat" in its description. That intrigued me. The smell of that first drink brought an immediate memory of the small bottle of coal oil that my Grandmother Hart used to keep in her medicine cabinet. Although that scotch was good it was not Balvenie The Week of Peat. But, it introduced me to the wonderful taste that peat brings to the drink and when I came across Balvenie The Week of Peat I did not hesitate to bring it home. The Balvenie The Week of Peat scotch offers a more refined, more complex taste. It is delightful from beginning to finish.

Aha
An incredibly smooth scotch with a long finish. The taste of vanilla and smokey peat remains on your pallette until your next sip where it revives again.
