Balvenie 12YO Triple Cask

The 12-year-old expression in Balvenie's travel retail Triple Cask range is made with whisky matured in three different types of cask, namely first-fill American oak barrels, traditional refill casks, and first-fill oloroso sherry butts. Following the maturation, the whisky is married together to create a cohesive, flavoursome expression packed with orchard fruit, custard cream, and cinnamon spice.

Magnificent
Sweet, mild, lots of flavours, well balanced. Bought it in a duty free shop for roughly 50 euros some 4 - 5 years ago. From that moment i stayed with it.
Nowadays, its hard to find it, only in a couple of special cavas in Athens, at 95 euros. Worth every cent!

Well worth a try
Bought this on the recommendation of a good friend and glad I did. £60 for a litre in duty free so well worth it. A very enjoyable dram, great flavours. Rumour has it it’s coming to an end due to the master distiller retiring so grab it while you can!

A pleasant dram
So, I picked this up and I was excited. Poured, slowly drank. Wasnt good but wasn't bad. Read some reviews and was a little surprised why I didn't like it as much as I thought. Mmmm for that price I wasn't impressed.

Next day I had to give it another chance. This time, I poured and left for 30mins. Wow, what a massive difference. Does come across quite strong, but only 40%. Loads of flavour, not heavy on sherry. Finish is medium but not long at all which is a shame. However finish does have good flavour so you cant moan.

Overall, a very nice one, just let it breath a little (in my experience anyway)

Pleasant whisky
Not entirely cask dominated but oaky notes come through a little too strongly on occasion. Left to settle for 20-30 mins draws out stronger spicy notes from US 1st fill casks and the Sherry butts. As expected strong dried fruits, hints of tobacco, nuts and leather. Slight aniseed notes also from the high Eugenol from the 1st fill US casks.
Finish is only medium in length and very much reflects the nose and taste compounds.
A pleasant whisky and a bit more spicy than the usual Sherried casks.

Clean and flavorful.
I recieved a small bottle of this scotch as a gift. It is a wonderfully light clear taste. I normally drink Double Wood, it is a much sweeter flavor. I find this flavor cleaner and easy to enjoy.

Excellent if not better than most others in this price rang.
Exceptionally smooth. It leaves a hint of fruit on the palette. Leaves you wanting more. One of the best ones I have had ever. If you like highland scotch’s you will love this!!!
