Aultmore 12YO Bottling Note

12 year old Aultmore single malt Scotch whisky, unveiled in 2014 for the Last Great Malts by Dewar's. A refreshing dram, with plenty of vanilla, honey and citrus, alongside a touch of grassiness. It's been quite a while since a distillery bottling of Aultmore has been released, so this is all rather exciting indeed.

Aultmore 12 Year Old Reviews

Apple/pear, honey, caramel. Long finish. Stunning.

Such a smooth dram. Instant green apple/pear on the nose, following into honey, malt and a slight cask influence. Getting a feint caramel on the nose after a few small drops of water.

Citrus in the mouth with caramel following and a hint of malt. Very smooth.

Long silky finish, goes on and on. Caramel fades and Apple reins.

Fantastic speyside single malt. As mentioned above a perfect summer dram.

What an 81 birthday gift my next purchase, oh yes

Palest single malt that I have drunk undiluted, what a surprise, subtle pleasing blend rasberries, pears honey bananas sprinkling of sea salt and heather. Then comes the finish - wow l- o- n- g lingering

Pears.

Pears with a kick. This dram is pears from end to finish. Whilst this may not seem that interesting, there are subtle complexities from end to finish as the whisky develops in the glass. It's simply beautiful.

A great find!

My new favourite! A great pick me upper after a long day. Lightly colored but very pleasant indeed.

Excellent Burst of Honey and English Cream!

"Nose" (undiluted)
Floral notes of dandelion, roses, apple blossoms, honey sweetness and butter. Very balanced and pleasing drawing you in again and again.

"Palate" (undiluted)
Powerful burst of graprefruit and pears. Honey, fruit cup syrup (in a good way!), golden wheat, barley, vanilla, banana, English cream and custard.

"Finish" (undiluted)
Cream, lemons, sea salt, limes. The flavors linger a long time!

General Impressions
Very good! I was really surprised by the obscure distillery. Brilliant and well balanced! Highly recommended!

Brilliantly understated

Wow. What a find. Citrusy & fresh. Fantastic with a good glug of water. Really brings out the honey and grassy notes. My new favourite 12 year old speyside!

Highly recommended and be mindful not to get a drop of water anywhere near you glass. Not necessary.

Trying it for the first time and thought it may be a drop of water but courageously decided it against it and happy that I did. Vanilla sweet nose delicious caramel on the palate and a subtle sweet finish. Just moved up to my top 5.

Excellent

This was recommended to me and so having read the reviews thought I'd give it a go - it's everything everyone said about it - a real gem. If you're a fan of Speyside you need give this one a try .

A winner

Bought two of these now, certainly one of my favourite whiskeys. Fairly sweet caramel aftertaste with a nice punch to it. Would definitely recommend for novices and whiskey lovers alike.

Very smooth and excellent taste. I liked this from seeing it first on the top shelf of my local bar...to having my first taste. I dont remember going home!

Good stuff

Really hard to find this one but I did and it was worth it. Basically tastes like glenlivet 12 but at a higher proof non chill filtered and no color added. Just agood ole green apples and honey Speyside. Delicious. The Sugarbear

Excellent 12 year old

This is excellent 12 years old single malt. Recommended. I find it quite similar to another Dewar´s distillery product, Graicellachie 13 year. Both are really nice whiskies and worth buying. Will definetely buy another bottle of this.

Very nice!

This reminds me of the standard Glenmorangie 10, but with more . . . oomph. The Aultmore 12 is a nice, light summer dram with just enough complexity to make it worth your while. It has a pleasant lemony, vanilla nose that arrives on the palate with a solid malty foundation. Again, this is not terribly complex, but what it does it does very well indeed. The 46% abv, no chill filtration/castration (great metaphor there, steve g.!) and no evidence of caramel coloring are key characteristics that lift it up. Other distilleries aiming for this sort of lighter flavor profile should take note - this is how it's done.

A secret no more

What a rare surprise. Very difficult to find in the states. Light in color but full in flavor. If you prefer an unpeated scotch this is the standard all should be measured against. A little ice opens the flavor profile and makes it a bit cloudy which is normal due to the non chilled filtering. The best of Speyside.

The Flying Scotsman

This one was quite a nice surprise. Never had it before, but I would highly recommend it.
