Auchentoshan Three Wood

A Lowland single malt matured in 3 different casks, namely: Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, bourbon casks and Oloroso Sherry casks. A distinctive triple distilled whisky from Auchentoshan.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Cooked fruit, sherry, toffee, a rum-like quality and notes of Bas Armagnac distilled circa 1940.

Palate Rich. Liqueur cherries in dark chocolate, more sherried fruit, ripe dark forest fruits, like a Black Forest Gateaux.

Finish Superb, led by thick dark treacle and toffee notes and chewy wooded notes, balanced with a green fruit edge.

Tough to beat for the price $45. Easy drinking, smooth dark fruit notes. A little thin, but worth the price. Bought a second bottle recently. If the price stays stable or goes on offer, I'll pick up another.

Whisky-ish
The colour will throw you off to start -but let’s be open minded. And then there is the taste. A bit of a mutt; sherry, almost rum like? Not great if you enjoy lowlands or scotch in general.

A happy Father's Day Favourite!
Sadly these 2 bottles were not for me - but one for husband and one for son - Father's Day gifts!
However, as it's one of their (many) favourite whiskies, I know they will both enjoy this Auchentoshan Triple Wood. Maybe they'll let me taste it!

Bought as part of a Tasting set and I'm glad I had a look see at this one. A good complexity of flavours and very smooth. I don't greatly analyse flavours, have a preference for sherry casks and/or hints of peat and smoke, but this has little or no hint of those, but it's just a pleasant dram.

Very nice
Wanted to try this for a long time, and was not disappointed. The tree wood combination works well and it's has depth in flavor. Recommend to all

Black box, nearly black Scotch
Never until now come across a malt that's darker than cola in the bottle (only transparent when you hold it up to a bright light, the darkest malt I've ever seen with no other even in sight) and with all that colour it's no surprise that there's a load of flavours. I get dried figs and sweet sherries highlighted and a smooth treacley finish. For a 43% ABV it's phenomenally gentle, deceptively so.
Overall for me it's a bit of a cocktail, an aperitif rather than a digestif, but that's just me I suppose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The 4 star reviews are WRONG
The 4 star reviews are Absolutely Wrong!
This whisky is Absolutely Amazing!
It is delectable, it's delicate, it's delicious!
Your tongue will thank you (and your wallet) and the way this compares to a macallan 18. Burnt molasses, caramel and burnt sugar. It's like a steak soaked in caramel butter. It's creamy and just straight up fun to sip on. If you're a 'bourbon guy" and you're afraid to try Scotch... Start here. You will ready to make the full fledged switch to sherried scotches. I should be a salesman for this Single Malt. I sell it all the time (as a bartender) but I truly love and thirst for this impeccable and unassuming single malt. The reviews don't do this one justice. I've had over 200 scotches from 150+ distilleries and this one is in my top 3. Long live AUCHENTOSHAN. [Pronounced: Ack En TOSH En]

Good God yall! Do not sleep on this bona-fide Gem of a Scotch. If you like sherry Cask Macallan... you Will Thank Me!!!
